Independence Day

What a great day. Went to Little Flower Catholic Worker for a party. So many kids! Kids everywhere! Along with the best raspberries that I had ever had in my life. Of course all the ripe ones were in the middle of the patch- they were also the thorniest I had ever seen too! So I had a small person entourage waiting mostly patiently while I reached into the center to get berries for everyone. Angel is starting a theatre camp and it looks like I might get involved in that! What fun.

After Little Flower, Guido, Cricket and I went to the Louisa fair to watch the fire works and so Cricket could pass out the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Most people were really happy about taking them, but there were at least two instances that surprised me a lot. On approaching a woman and asking if she wanted copies she said "Well I don' t know what that is, so I don't want it." Another person actually said "I don't believe in the Bill of Rights" and spat on Crickets foot. He was also asked to leave the fair for passing out the papers. But he just stood outside and people were happy enough to take them. Then he came back in.

I had some soft serve. First white sugar I've had in a few months. Holy shit it was sweet!

well...cricket told me the shoe spitter also said as he turned away...."the constitution was better without the bill of rights"
the fact that he said that changes the story, without that piece of information this guy sounded totally ignorant but really he was just a big jerk....really SPITTING on cricket! how dare he.
