Mexico ditches future nuclear construction

Along with Belgium closing reactors early, this last week saw another blow to the dreams of a “Nuclear Renaissance”, Mexico has abandoned its plans to build ten reactors.    Mexico has two reactors and was looking at this dramatic nuclear expansion.  Some will be disappointed that Mexico is choosing to go after it’s recently discovered natural gas fields.  And while i would certainly prefer Mexico choose to grow it’s significant renewables capacity, they can hardly be criticized given that over 27% of their installed power generating capacity is nuclear free and carbon free.
